Terms of use

Version 2, of 9 October 2026

Owluz is a quiz app, on Android and at owluz.com. These terms say what you can expect from Owluz and what Owluz expects from you.

1. What these terms are

They apply to every use of Owluz, as a guest or with an account. You accept them expressly before your first game, and again when they change. Without accepting them, you can browse Owluz’s public pages, but not play.

2. Who publishes Owluz

Owluz is published by Rémy Dekeister, sole trader (SIREN 130 362 072). You can write to us at contact@owluz.com. The full legal notice is on the Legal notice page.

3. Age and your account

Owluz is for people aged 13 and over. A younger child may play with a parent, from that parent’s access, and the parent remains responsible.

The first time you open Owluz, it asks for your date of birth. It stays on your device or in your browser, is never shown to anyone and is only used to apply these age rules. If it says you are under 13, Owluz does not open.

Between 13 and 14, you play as a guest, without giving an email address. Creating an account, and so creating and publishing quizzes, is reserved for people aged 15 and over.

A parent who subscribes to a plan for their child does so with their own account, which they remain the holder of and responsible for.

Give an email address that is yours. Your password is personal: anything done from your account is deemed done by you.

Your display name and your tag are public, as a guest or with an account. They must not impersonate anyone or be offensive. Avoid putting your surname, or anything that says where to find you, in them.

4. What you publish

You are responsible for what you create and publish: quizzes, questions, display name. The following are forbidden, without exception: hateful, discriminatory or harassing content; sexual, violent or shocking content; anything illegal or dangerous, or that encourages it; other people’s personal data, and anything that is not yours unless you have the right to it.

Anyone can report a quiz or an account from the app, and block a user. We review reports. We may remove content, and suspend or close an account or a guest session that breaks these rules; for a serious breach, without notice.

When we remove one of your pieces of content or restrict your account, we tell you why, and you can contest that decision by writing to us at contact@owluz.com.

5. Rights over quizzes

A private quiz stays yours alone: nobody else has access to it, and it disappears with your account.

A public quiz can be played, added to favourites and turned into flashcards by others. What applies to it depends on how it was made.

A quiz you wrote yourself remains yours. By making it public, you grant Owluz and its users, free of charge and worldwide, the right to play it, display it, import it as flashcards and keep it, including after your account is deleted.

A quiz generated by the AI from what you provided belongs exclusively to nobody. By making it public, you guarantee that you had the right to send the source (your notes, a document you wrote or that is free of rights), and you accept that it stays online after you leave.

In both cases, a public quiz that outlives the deletion of your account is detached from your account and your display name.

What you send for generation and what you publish is your sole responsibility. A quiz you write yourself does not leave Owluz and is visible to nobody until you make it public. A generated quiz, on the other hand, means sending your source to Google (article 7). Owluz does not check these sources before publication: if you generate a quiz from content you do not have the right to use (someone else’s course, a textbook, a protected work), or if you make it public, you alone answer for it, and Owluz cannot be held responsible. As a hosting provider, Owluz promptly removes any manifestly illegal content reported to it, from the app or at contact@owluz.com.

6. Owluz itself

Owluz, its name, logo, code, illustrations, texts and games, Ascii Survie included, belong to its publisher. You may use them within the app, for yourself or in a classroom, but not copy, resell or reuse them elsewhere without its written consent.

7. AI-generated content

Owluz can generate questions from a text, a photo or a document. This content is produced automatically by an AI model (Gemini, by Google), and it may contain errors. We present it as a learning tool, not as an authoritative source.

Here is what we do: any quiz can be reported from the app, and we correct or remove what is wrong or shocking. Here is what you do: you check what you publish, and you do not send documents containing sensitive information or other people’s personal data for generation.

8. Luz, plans and ads

Generation uses Luz, and the daily amount depends on your plan. Luz have no monetary value: they are not refunded, exchanged or transferred to another account.

Paid plans are subscribed to at owluz.com, and will be governed by separate terms of sale. The mobile app offers no purchase.

The version of Owluz installed from owluz.com (no longer offered) shows ads, except with a paid plan; the Google Play version shows none.

9. Availability of the service

We do our best to keep Owluz working, without being able to guarantee it at all times: maintenance or an outage may interrupt it.

AI quiz generation depends on a provider (Gemini, by Google). If it is unavailable, generation may be too, but the rest of Owluz does not depend on it: playing, reviewing your cards, multiplayer and your library keep working. If generation is unavailable for a long time, we may, at our discretion, credit Luz to paying subscribers.

Owluz is a test version (“alpha”): features may change or disappear.

10. Liability

Owluz is provided as is. We are not liable for indirect damage, nor for what results from content published by another user. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law guarantees you as a consumer.

11. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time, from your profile or by writing to us. You then have 30 days to change your mind, after which the deletion is final. What happens to your data is described in the privacy policy; what happens to your public quizzes, in article 5.

12. Your personal data

It is processed as described in the privacy policy.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will tell you in the app, and the new version will apply once accepted. You can refuse by deleting your account.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If we disagree, write to us first: we will look for an amicable solution. Failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the rules that protect you as a consumer.
